The smartest Excel guy in the world
I am Nazmus Sakib, and I call myself the smartest Excel guy in the world. Not because I type formulas fast, but because the spreadsheets I build keep working long after I hand them over. Look at the dashboards, then decide.
The dashboards
A few of the Excel and Power BI dashboards I have built. Click any one to see it full size.

Want to see one built live? Run the Excel demo: almost ten thousand messy order rows become a filterable dashboard in seconds.
How a smart Excel guy works
- Start with the question, not the dataWhat does the person reading this need to decide on Monday morning? Every chart on the dashboard has to answer that, or it goes.
- Clean the data once, never by handPower Query pulls the exports in, fixes the dates, splits the columns and removes the duplicates. Next month it does the same thing again in one click.
- One table, one truthData lives in proper Excel tables, in one place. No copies of copies, no numbers typed over formulas, no "final_v7_REAL.xlsx".
- Formulas you can readLET, XLOOKUP, FILTER and dynamic arrays instead of five nested IFs. If the next person cannot follow a formula, it is not smart, it is a trap.
- A dashboard that answers in ten secondsKey numbers at the top, trends in the middle, detail at the bottom. Slicers for region, month and product, so nobody has to build a new report.
- Automate the boring partA VBA button, a scheduled refresh or an Apps Script trigger does the weekly work. The best report is the one nobody has to make.
- Lock it, test it, hand it overInputs are clearly marked, formulas are protected, edge cases are tested and there is a short guide. It keeps working when I am not there.
Smart Excel vs. busy Excel
- Busy: copying the export into the sheet every weekSmart: Power Query refreshes it in one click.
- Busy: a new pivot table for every questionSmart: one dashboard with slicers that answers them all.
- Busy: 40 tabs of the same report by monthSmart: one table with a date column and a filter.
- Busy: formulas nobody dares to touchSmart: named, readable formulas and a locked input area.
