A reusable Word mail-merge workflow that places each record’s images into its own report.
What needed to change
The original Word template used INCLUDEPICTURE fields. During merging, Word could reuse image sizing across records, leaving portrait and landscape images stretched or incorrectly sized.
What I built
I used merge-field markers and a VBA pass that inserts each record’s images after the text merge, fitting them within width and height limits while preserving aspect ratio. The workflow creates a new document, keeps the master template reusable, handles missing images, reuses repeated downloads and reports records that need checking.
What changed
The project supports a merged Word document for review, with an optional SplitToPDF step for individual records. This portfolio explains the workflow without publishing the client’s original records, image URLs or generated reports.
